DESCRIPTION
Generative audiovisual composition based on AI and audiovisual algorithmic processes.
Pre(N)atura | Fonocene is a speculative project and narrative inspired by post-natural studies, designed to investigate the era of the Fonocene—a period where both human and non-human sounds shape sensory experience and interspecies interactions. In this work, beings of the Chthulucene emerge: hybrid creatures, transformed fungi, and mycelia representing forms of life that defy ideologies and resist belonging to any entity or specific purpose. These entities challenge traditional forms of communication, using listening as a means to heighten awareness of interdependence.
Language in this project functions as an experimental laboratory, merging creative programming processes, marked by algorithmic precision, with natural language processing powered by artificial intelligence.
DESCRIPTION
The voices of these entities express themselves in a meta-language that combines ancient languages such as Sanskrit, Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, Chinese, Tamil, Sumerian, Ancient Egyptian, Nahuatl, and Quechua. This creates an immersive state for the audience, dissolving boundaries between human and non-human realms. Here, deep listening and catharsis emerge as essential mechanisms for fostering symbiosis and mutual care, inviting reflection on the fundamental connections that unite all forms of life.
The 35-minute concert narrates this speculation through live animation and coding. The foleys we use as samplers for the algorithmic composition come from two sources: 1) Nature records and 2) Prompts (AI) that, combined with training, imagine and hallucinate the sounds of this fiction of living glass flutes and eerie breathing organic instruments, liminal spaces and a combination of tibal, IDM, deconstructed club and haunting vocals.
