ABOUT
Malitzin Cortes (CNDSD)
Musician, Speculative Architect, Creative Technologist.
As an artist, CNDSD delves into the ways in which sound, architecture, technology, and science can act as potent conduits for discovery and self-reflection, ushering in speculative realms. Through processes like creative coding, experimental sound, CGI, gaming software, installation, and extended reality, she merges the physical and digital domains, forging novel models of social and political interaction in pursuit of alternative relationships from utopian and fictional viewpoints amidst perpetual states of crisis and hope.
Her work explores themes of ecological transcendence, climate change, interdependence, and planetary scales, addressing issues relevant to all citizens but often controlled by few. She seeks to convey a visual message by speculating and envisioning from the present.
CNDSD serves as an educator and researcher at the Universidad CENTRO | Design, Film, and Television, focusing on creative coding, STEAM, sound technologies, and immersion, as well as at CMMAS, specializing in algorithmic music composition and live coding.
She has participated in live events and exhibitions worldwide, including at prestigious venues like Centro Multimedia, Laboratorio de Arte Alameda, Arte Actual Exteresa, Centro Cultural Digital, Medialab Prado, Matadero, Centro Cultural de España, CMMAS, and international events such as ISEA, CYLAND Media Arts Lab in St. Petersburg, Asia Culture Center, ADAF Athens, Ars Electronica, The ZKM | Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe, and MUTEK in Mexico, Argentina, Montreal, and Japan.
Her accolades include the Lumen Prize Gold Award, recognition for Best Latin American Immersive Experience by the Colombian Government REALMIX, ADAF Athens Virtual Reality Award, FONCA National Young Creators of Art Award, and Lumen Prize Gold Award 2024. She has also undertaken international artist residencies such as On-the-Fly: Fostering Live Coding practices across Europe at the Center for Art and Media | ZKM in Karlsruhe, Germany, and Transgression: art + technology residency in Funchal, Portugal, among others.
