The empty spaces are not empty; they are filled with people who took their own lives to survive or who were erased by others.
The existing data comes from an unpredictable and profoundly human mix: pilgrims documenting remote temples, diaspora communities creating maps from memory, volunteers interpreting satellite images of countries they will never visit. None of them know they are building a political archive. Politics arises from accumulation.
What does AI produce when it operates in deliberate absence? Can algorithmic systems counteract the extractive logic that created these absences, instead of reproducing it? Can there be an ethical sonic speculation from these places to expand their languages, their symbols?
What the map erased, sound reconstructs.
